WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY AND GRAND SLAM TRACK™ PARTNER FOR COVERAGE OF LEAGUE’S INAUGURAL SEASON FOR FANS IN EUROPE AND ASIA

6 March 2025

  • Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) secures multi-year agreement with Grand Slam Track™ to broadcast competition across Europe and Asia with live exclusivity in 40+ territories*

  • The world’s fastest Racers will compete in the new premier track league created by four-time Olympic Champion Michael Johnson, live on Max, discovery+**, Eurosport and TNT Sports

  • The first of four three-day events begins in Kingston, Jamaica on 4 April

Warner Bros. Discovery & Grand Slam Track™, the new global home of professional track competition, are delighted to announce their multi-year partnership to bring live elite Track racing to fans across Europe & Asia. Olympic medallists, World Champions and national heroes are set to face-off in the new elite track league launched by Olympic legend Michael Johnson, with live coverage coming to WBD Sports’ channels and platforms across Europe and Asia beginning in April.

Eurosport (Europe and Asia) and TNT Sports (UK and Ireland) will offer live linear coverage while every event on the 2025 calendar will be available to stream live and on-demand on Max and discovery+*, offering athletics fans a front row seat to the action however they choose to watch.

Two Circles, the global sports marketing business, has been instrumental to securing the deal as the lead advisors to Grand Slam Track™ on its global media rights.

The dynamic new league features 24 races across 12 event groups per Slam – including Sprints, Distance, and Hurdles –- with two hours of live coverage produced by the host broadcaster at each meeting for fans around the world. The league will host four “Slams” in 2025, emanating from Kingston, Jamaica (National Stadium), Miami, Florida (Miramar’s Ansin Sports Complex), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Franklin Field), and Los Angeles, California (Drake Stadium).

In total, 96 athletes, including 48 Grand Slam Track Racers boasting 34 medals from the Olympic Games Paris 2024 alone, will face off against each other and 48 Challengers in the quest to build up their points tally. World-beating athletes set to compete include Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Gabby Thomas, Cole Hocker, Yared Nuguse, and Quincy Hall (USA); Josh Kerr, Daryll Neita, Dina Asher-Smith, Matthew Hudson-Smith and Zharnel Hughes (Great Britain); Oblique Seville, Nickisha Pryce and Ackera Nugent (Jamaica) and many other global superstars, like Japan’s Nozomi Tanaka, and France’s Sasha Zhoya, Clément Ducos, and Cyréna Samba-Mayela

Scott Young, Group SVP Content, Production and Business Operations at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, said: "We are particularly excited about this new innovative format for a much-loved sport. Track remains the king of Olympics sports, consistently attracting the largest audiences through nail-biting races and intense athletic performances from some of the biggest personalities in sport. Our ambition to continue telling the inspiring stories of these athletes between Olympic cycles is matched by Michael Johnson and the Grand Slam Track competition. We can’t wait to work in partnership to scale coverage of this exciting new world-class athletics competition to fans all around the world through our premium channel and platform portfolio.”

Michael Johnson, CEO & Commissioner of Grand Slam Track™, said: “We are delighted to partner with our friends at Warner Bros. Discovery to bring Grand Slam Track to fans across Europe and Asia. Since our launch, we’ve had a huge amount of support from our great fans on these continents. We set out to ensure our broadcasts were easily accessible for fans around the world, and wanted to make sure our Racers had a platform on which they could perform, entertain, and grow their fanbases. This deal ensures that is reality, and we can’t wait to get started in Kingston, Jamaica, on April 4th.”.

WBD Sports has a proven track record of bringing athletics to larger audiences than any other broadcaster. During its coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, where WBD Sports collectively reached more than 215 million fans in Europe alone, athletics was its most watched sport – contributing to around 18% of all linear viewing and over 15 million hours of content streamed on Max and discovery+. Athletics also drove the largest audience on a single day during the Olympics, on Sunday 4 August, which culminated in the fastest ever men’s 100m final where all eight competitors finished in under 10 seconds for the first time.

The Olympics, including athletics, are central to WBD’s multi-sport offer in Europe, which is powering its immense streaming content proposition on Max as it continues to expand into new markets such as the UK, Italy and Germany in 2026.

WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY BRINGS THE LOONEY TUNES TO THE OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES WITH LIVE MOMENTS, NEW COLLABORATIONS, PRODUCTS, AND ORIGINAL CONTENT

As the world turns its attention to the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is once again bringing the Looney Tunes to the Olympic stage and kicking off the Games with a presence that spans live moments, product collections, collaborations, and original content. For nearly a century, sports have been woven into the very DNA of the Looney Tunes. From Bugs Bunny outsmarting foes on the basketball court to Wile E. Coyote engineering contraptions worthy of a high intensity training regimen, the characters have long used athletic moments as a backdrop for their signature humor and physical comedy. That legacy reached new heights with Space Jam, which cemented the Looney Tunes as cultural fixtures in the world of sports and continued in 2024 with the Olympic licensing collections that celebrated the characters and the Olympic values on a global stage. Their presence in 2026 is a continued evolution— combined with the Olympic Rings as well as messages promoting the power of sport to unite people and inspire new generations. Live Moments & On-Site Activations In Milan, the Looney Tunes will appear in fun, irreverent ways unique to the brand. Two major live moments anchor their presence: a hyper visual installation that playfully connects fans to the Olympic streaming experience on HBO Max, and the Official Olympic Pin Trading Center, redesigned with a Looney Tunes look and feel through a licensing collaboration between Warner Bros. Discovery, Honav USA, and the IOC. The center will be open February 6–22 at Via Carlo de Cristoforis 1. Strategic Collaborations Strategic collaborations will also play a major role in the Looney Tunes cultural presence throughout the Games. Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products (WBDGCP) will unveil a surprise Looney Tunes–inspired collaboration with Burton, the world’s leading snowboarding brand, with details to be revealed in early February. In addition, United Colors of Benetton, together with WBDGCP and the IOC, has launched an exclusive kids’ Olympic Collection capsule that merges the Looney Tunes spirit, Olympic values, and Benetton’s multicolored identity Broadcast & Streaming Integration The Looney Tunes Winter Olympics Games presence will also extend into broadcast and streaming through Eurosport and TNT Sports*, whose Olympics coverage will be available across WBD’s platforms in mainland Europe and the UK & Ireland, including HBO Max, as the service launches in Italy. The collaboration will include recurring content features such as “Looney Tunes: Sports Made Simple” and “Sports Talk with Bugs Bunny,” where Bugs Bunny appears as a guest interviewer during coverage. Daily Watch Party WBD will further spotlight the Looney Tunes during its daily Olympic Winter Games coverage with the Looney Tunes Watch Party, a character driven segment hosted by Bugs Bunny that highlights the day’s top moments with the franchise’s signature humor. Airing across linear and digital platforms, the Watch Party adds a playful, family friendly layer to the Olympic experience. Content Rollout Content throughout the Games will roll out across linear, digital, and on-the-ground channels. The Looney Tunes features will air across Eurosport and Cartoon Network, appear on screens at the Pin Trading Center and publish across digital platforms including Eurosport, The Looney Tunes, and WB Kids social and video channels. Content will be localized across multiple languages to reach audiences worldwide. *Availability of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 across Europe on WBD’s channels and platforms Eurosport: pan-European premium television coverage excluding the UK and Ireland TNT Sports: premium television coverage in the UK and Ireland.
