Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) today lifts the curtain on its cutting-edge studios in Italy that will broadcast live coverage of Milano Cortina 2026 to millions of viewers across Europe.
Constructed in Italy and custom-built to give fans a front-row seat to the action, two superbly crafted and distinct studios combine striking modern designs and state-of-the-art broadcast technology with timeless mountain views.
Its main studio, ‘WBD House’, will offer Olympic fans a true Italian flavour with a prime location in the heart of the Nations Village in Cortina d’Ampezzo. Constructed over two floors, the 600m² space features 217 steel and glass pieces which will combine with high resolution cameras on the building’s exterior to expand the viewer’s experience of Cortina. The technology will provide panoramic views of the Dolomites’ peaks, its picture-perfect snow-filled village below, and Olympic venues including the Cortina Curling Olympic Stadium, the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre and the new Cortina Sliding Centre, where daring skeleton, luge and bobsleigh athletes will descend its 1,750m track.
‘WBD House’ will host a 90-strong crew supporting productions that will harness 12 cameras including jib and drone cameras, two RF cameras and a Steadicam, plus three exterior XR cameras enabling virtual set extensions for viewers. They will broadcast live for viewers across Europe with a particular emphasis on productions for Italy, Germany, Poland, Italy and Norway as well as having teams from France, the Netherlands, Denmark and the UK on-site. Taking three weeks to construct using some materials and features recycled from previous Games, the site also hosts two stand-up positions to enable even more interviews with athletes and special guests to take place throughout the 19 days of competition.
WBD’s second ‘Snow Dome’ studio in the high-altitude town of Livigno features a breath-taking 360-degree view of the slopes which will play host to the world’s greatest snowboarders and skiers. Built in partnership with the local organising committee in Livigno, the striking six-metre high domed design features a 95m² space to offer viewers the most immersive look at the freestyle ski and snowboard events.
WBD’s studio operations in Italy will be paired with the most advanced permanent studios housed across key locations in Europe where local analysis and review shows will be produced each day throughout the Games. This includes its award-winning mixed-reality curve studio in London together with local productions at studios and production hubs in Paris, Milan, Munich, Madrid, Oslo, Stockholm, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Hilversum and Warsaw.
Scott Young, EVP at WBD Sports Europe, said: “We are at the starting line of one of the most remarkable Olympic Winter Games in recent times with all-encompassing coverage available for fans on our channels and platforms during primetime broadcast windows as the Games return to Europe.
“As the home of the Olympics in Europe, our ambition is to provide viewers with an authentic taste of Italy through the most immersive production possible. Our studios will deliver a truly unique viewing experience to fans while maximising opportunities for our expert presenters and reporters to get even closer to the action while telling the stories of the incredible athletes competing.”
To lead its studio coverage, WBD has assembled one of the most talented teams of Olympic legends and presenters for an Olympic Winter Games. Key personalities will bring their storytelling expertise and Olympic experience to present coverage for Eurosport, TNT Sports, HBO Max and discovery+ from ‘WBD House’ and the ‘Snow Dome’ live each day.
This includes Olympic and World Championship alpine skiing medallists Tina Maze, Viktoria Rebensburg, Johan Clarey and Kristian Ghedina, six-time Olympic luge gold medallist Natalie Geisenberger, four-time champion and the most successful bobsleigh athlete of all-time Kevin Kuske, double cross-country skiing champion Justyna Kowalczyk-Tekieli, ice hockey medallists Håkan Södergren and Mats Sundin, and summer Olympic medallists Laura Robson and Fabian Hambüchen who will bring their sports presentation skills to the Olympic Winter Games from ‘WBD House’ and Olympic venues in Cortina. Similarly, former Olympic freestyle skier Elisa Nakab (pictured above), Olympic snowboarder Aimee Fuller, and biathlon expert Herbert Cool will report live from WBD’s ‘Snow Dome’ in Livigno.
WBD’s first live studio show from Italy will take place on Friday 6 February ahead of the Opening Ceremony in Milan. Live coverage of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 begins on Wednesday 4 February and runs until Sunday 22 February. WBD’s streaming platforms HBO Max (Europe) and discovery (UK)* will be the only place to watch every event live while its linear channels Eurosport (Europe) and TNT Sports (UK and Ireland) will deliver comprehensive Games-time coverage to millions of fans.
