Commonwealth Sport today confirmed that Warner Bros. Discovery has secured the exclusive UK live broadcast and digital media rights in a landmark deal for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games. TNT Sports will bring live coverage to viewers via a dedicated linear channel in the UK and Ireland.
More than 600 hours of live coverage will be offered to fans with every sport and event streaming on HBO Max* in the UK following the platform’s launch in March 2026 with an ambition to maximise access for the widest possible audience. Glasgow 2026 is an 11-day celebration that combines 10 world-class sports and 6 Para sports into an integrated programme delivered within an 8-mile corridor in Glasgow’s iconic venues.
With a future-focused vision, Glasgow promises an altogether brilliant Commonwealth Games, paving the way for a new era of Commonwealth Sport. The decision to award the UK and Europe live broadcast rights to Warner Bros. Discovery’s channels and platforms reflects its rich storytelling history as the Home of the Olympic Games, and the bold ambition of the Commonwealth Games.
Fans will enjoy more hours of live coverage than ever before with athlete stories elevated, and new, innovative ways for audiences to be closer to the action of one of the biggest sporting events in Europe next summer.
Katie Sadleir, CEO of Commonwealth Sport said, “This is another landmark moment as we continue to re-imagine what a Commonwealth Games looks and feels like for athletes and fans alike. With a heavyweight broadcast partner like Warner Bros. Discovery onboard across the UK and Europe for Glasgow 2026 and the recent decision to award the 2030 Commonwealth Games to India, alongside strong interest for 2034, the future of our Movement has never been more secure.
“Our partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery opens up exciting new ways for fans to connect with the action. With more events available live and a strong focus on athlete storytelling, fans will be closer to the Games than ever before.”
Scott Young, EVP at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe said, “As a premium multi-sport broadcaster, we have a proven ability to connect sports fans and audiences with the world’s biggest sports events and their athletes. We will bring this storytelling heritage and production expertise to the Commonwealth Games where our coverage of Glasgow 2026 will be comprehensive, immersive and accessible.
“With coverage of every sport and athlete on our streaming platforms, we are confident our approach will celebrate the history of the Commonwealth Games while telling new stories of its competitors with unmatched energy and excitement.”
Phil Batty OBE, CEO of Glasgow 2026 said, “It is great to welcome Warner Bros. Discovery to the Glasgow 2026 family of broadcasters as the new home for the Commonwealth Games in the UK and Europe. In Scotland, we committed to a bold re-imagining of the Games, innovative, future focused and with sports fans at the centre of the action. The partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery will celebrate our athletes, embrace new content formats, and drive more hours of sport coverage for the Commonwealth Games than ever before.
“This broadcast partnership, secured by Commonwealth Sport, reflects our shared ambition to take coverage of the Games to new and growing audiences. With significant investment into the breadth and depth of content to be platformed for Glasgow 2026, we are hugely excited by the opportunity to collaborate with the talented team at Warner Bros. Discovery. This is a Games for a new era of Commonwealth Sport, and this partnership sets us up for an incredible showcase of sport in Glasgow next summer.”
Warner Bros. Discovery has a proven track record of maximising audience reach around sports events and its channels and platforms were the only place to watch every event and athlete at last summer’s Olympic Games Paris 2024. Its approach to covering all the action successfully engaged record numbers of viewers in Europe for an Olympics, including more than doubling its television audiences in the UK compared to Tokyo 2020 and quadrupling minutes streamed in the UK. Recognised as the Home of the Olympics in Europe, Warner Bros. Discovery’s platforms will be the only place to watch all events in the upcoming Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 as part of its long-term partnership with the International Olympic Committee and European Broadcasting Union that guarantees coverage of the Olympics until at least Brisbane 2032.
It is committed to telling the stories of athletes between Olympic cycles as demonstrated by its coverage of this year’s World Athletics Championships. This partnership builds on recent broadcast deals secured by Commonwealth Sport.
In July 2025, Sky New Zealand was confirmed as the exclusive media partner for the 2026 Games across TV, streaming and radio, delivering full coverage to New Zealanders and Pacific Islanders. Meanwhile, in April 2025, the Seven Network reaffirmed its long-standing commitment by securing exclusive Australian broadcast rights for both Glasgow 2026 and Amdavad 2030.
The 23rd edition of the Commonwealth Games will welcome 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories between 23 July and 2 August. With 215 gold medals up for grabs over 10 days and 133 sessions of sport, including more than 50 medal sessions, the city is set to come alive with exhilarating competition and unforgettable moments of sporting drama.
*HBO Max will launch in the UK and Ireland in March 2026 where it will become the new streaming home of TNT Sports. Across Europe, HBO Max is the streaming home of Eurosport. Details of free-to-air coverage and production plans will be confirmed in due course.
