22 July 2024

  • All 10,500 athletes, 762 sport sessions, 329 medal events and 3,800 live hours across 19 days of competition only available in Europe on WBD’s streaming platforms
  • In-app innovations include timeline markers for 15 sports, gold medal alerts and multi-audio feeds putting the power in the hands of Max, HBO Max and discovery+ users
  • Paris 2024 available through all pricing plans for WBD’s streaming subscribers, connecting millions of fans around Europe with the magic of the Olympics

Ahead of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, today Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) unveils how fans can enjoy watching every moment on its recently launched enhanced streaming service Max, HBO Max and discovery+*.

A raft of in-app product innovations have been developed to supercharge the viewing experience for subscribers, putting them in control of their own Olympics. This includes access to an unmatched 3,800 hours of live content, covering every event – peaking at 54 simultaneous live streams - available from Wednesday 24 July to the Closing Ceremony on 11 August.

Scott Young, Group SVP Content, Production and Business Operations at WBD Sports Europe, said: “Our direct-to-consumer strategy is the cornerstone of our continued growth and the subscription journey of customers to Max in available markets across Europe has been a huge success so far. With the world’s greatest sporting spectacle now coming to Max for the first time, it will be the only place to watch every event, every athlete and every moment of Paris 2024 live, and we know this unparalleled offer will engage more Olympic viewers than ever before.

“We look forward to scaling our coverage of the Games to widest possible audience across Europe while telling the stories of the athletes by creating the most engaging content that delivers the best possible streaming experience.”

New features set to revolutionise how fans consume the Olympic Games this summer include:

Timeline markers helping fans of 15 sports to enjoy every moment whenever they choose
Fans of some of the most popular Olympic sports can easily navigate back through an event timeline** to key moments, ensuring Olympic history can be witnessed by the widest possible audience. This innovative feature is available for web and mobile app users covering sports including Beach Volleyball, Volleyball, Handball, Tennis, Football, Rugby Sevens, Athletics, Swimming, Track Cycling, Road Cycling, Mountain Biking, Boxing, Basketball, Judo and Artistic Gymnastics.

Gold medal alerts
In-app pop-ups for mobile and web users on Max and all platforms for discovery+ will inform fans of when a gold medal is about to be won. Subscribers can toggle between events to ensure they witness sporting history being made, while easily navigating back to the previous stream.

In-player discovery rail
When watching an event, users can bring up a rail*** showing other live events taking place. This enables simple in-app navigation and seamless transition between events to create the most inclusive and immersive streaming experience.

Personalised watch lists
Max users can add specific events to My List – providing a personalised Olympic schedule to enjoy throughout the 19 days of competition.

Select your language and follow your favourite athletes
Subscribers will have access to multi-audio feeds with a choice of up to 20 languages for the majority of the 329 events taking place. More than 400 of the most passionate and skilled commentators will expertly narrate Eurosport’s coverage of all 32 sports and tell the stories of the 10,500 athletes competing.

The app will recommend specially curated live, upcoming and on-demand videos featuring Olympic athletes competing from the users’ country to keep them engaged for even longer. Every sport will also receive a dedicated in-app page to help users easily locate their favourite unmissable events throughout the Games. discovery+ subscribers in the UK and Germany will also be able to view a page dedicated to Team GB and Germany respectively – showcasing all events featuring local athletes to easily connect viewers with the national heroes competing.

Olympic Games included in standard pricing plans
Announced earlier in the year, WBD will offer every moment of the Olympics as part of its standard plans on Max, HBO Max and discovery+****. The Basic with Ads and Standard Plan on Max allows two users to stream content simultaneously while the Premium plan on Max provides the best consumer experience, enabling users to stream on four devices simultaneously with up to 100 downloads available to enjoy offline and on-the-go.

Olympic heroes and much-loved characters combine to create ultimate content offer
Max subscribers can also enjoy the Olympics alongside one of the most compelling content offers anywhere including epic shows for the whole household such as House of the Dragon, The Last of Us and White Lotus, alongside blockbuster movies including Barbie, Wonka, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings franchises. These are made available through fan-favourite channels, networks and brands such as Warner Bros. movies, HBO, DC, Discovery Channel, TLC and Cartoon Network.

Comprehensive companion experience
For subscribers looking to enjoy curated coverage of the best moments from Paris 2024, they will benefit from accessing live feeds showing Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 alongside streams of every event. These channels will showcase Eurosport’s locally produced analysis shows from its Parisian rooftop studios and around the city’s iconic competition venues, providing a multi-screen experience from stadium to street, via TV, mobile or tablet.

The highest quality streaming experience
Uninterrupted coverage of the historic Opening Ceremony taking place on the river Seine as well as the Closing Ceremony at the iconic Stade de France, available in all markets in HDR. Selected markets can also enjoy additional HDR coverage of selected sports and events*****.

Following its last Olympic Summer Games as Discovery, record-breaking engagement records for Tokyo 2020 were secured, with over 175 million watching its Olympic coverage on TV and digital, 13 times more than PyeongChang 2018. Almost 200 million additional people watched through partner broadcasters with whom Discovery agreed sublicence agreements, including 45 free-to-air national broadcasters throughout Europe.

*Max is available in France, Poland and across the Nordics, Iberia, Central and Eastern Europe. In Belgium and the Netherlands, Warner Bros. Discovery’s enhanced streaming service is branded HBO Max. discovery+ is the streaming service in Austria, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.

WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY BRINGS THE LOONEY TUNES TO THE OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES WITH LIVE MOMENTS, NEW COLLABORATIONS, PRODUCTS, AND ORIGINAL CONTENT

As the world turns its attention to the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is once again bringing the Looney Tunes to the Olympic stage and kicking off the Games with a presence that spans live moments, product collections, collaborations, and original content. For nearly a century, sports have been woven into the very DNA of the Looney Tunes. From Bugs Bunny outsmarting foes on the basketball court to Wile E. Coyote engineering contraptions worthy of a high intensity training regimen, the characters have long used athletic moments as a backdrop for their signature humor and physical comedy. That legacy reached new heights with Space Jam, which cemented the Looney Tunes as cultural fixtures in the world of sports and continued in 2024 with the Olympic licensing collections that celebrated the characters and the Olympic values on a global stage. Their presence in 2026 is a continued evolution— combined with the Olympic Rings as well as messages promoting the power of sport to unite people and inspire new generations. Live Moments & On-Site Activations In Milan, the Looney Tunes will appear in fun, irreverent ways unique to the brand. Two major live moments anchor their presence: a hyper visual installation that playfully connects fans to the Olympic streaming experience on HBO Max, and the Official Olympic Pin Trading Center, redesigned with a Looney Tunes look and feel through a licensing collaboration between Warner Bros. Discovery, Honav USA, and the IOC. The center will be open February 6–22 at Via Carlo de Cristoforis 1. Strategic Collaborations Strategic collaborations will also play a major role in the Looney Tunes cultural presence throughout the Games. Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products (WBDGCP) will unveil a surprise Looney Tunes–inspired collaboration with Burton, the world’s leading snowboarding brand, with details to be revealed in early February. In addition, United Colors of Benetton, together with WBDGCP and the IOC, has launched an exclusive kids’ Olympic Collection capsule that merges the Looney Tunes spirit, Olympic values, and Benetton’s multicolored identity Broadcast & Streaming Integration The Looney Tunes Winter Olympics Games presence will also extend into broadcast and streaming through Eurosport and TNT Sports*, whose Olympics coverage will be available across WBD’s platforms in mainland Europe and the UK & Ireland, including HBO Max, as the service launches in Italy. The collaboration will include recurring content features such as “Looney Tunes: Sports Made Simple” and “Sports Talk with Bugs Bunny,” where Bugs Bunny appears as a guest interviewer during coverage. Daily Watch Party WBD will further spotlight the Looney Tunes during its daily Olympic Winter Games coverage with the Looney Tunes Watch Party, a character driven segment hosted by Bugs Bunny that highlights the day’s top moments with the franchise’s signature humor. Airing across linear and digital platforms, the Watch Party adds a playful, family friendly layer to the Olympic experience. Content Rollout Content throughout the Games will roll out across linear, digital, and on-the-ground channels. The Looney Tunes features will air across Eurosport and Cartoon Network, appear on screens at the Pin Trading Center and publish across digital platforms including Eurosport, The Looney Tunes, and WB Kids social and video channels. Content will be localized across multiple languages to reach audiences worldwide. *Availability of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 across Europe on WBD’s channels and platforms Eurosport: pan-European premium television coverage excluding the UK and Ireland TNT Sports: premium television coverage in the UK and Ireland.
