MONSTER ENERGY EXTENDS FIM SPEEDWAY PARTNERSHIP AND BECOMES FIM SWC TITLE SPONSOR

4 April 2023

Long-time FIM Speedway sponsor Monster Energy has extended its partnership with the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series into a 12th season – in the year it returns as Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup title sponsor for 2023.

The global energy drink giant first joined forces with the Speedway GP series in 2012 and remained on board as an official partner in 2022, when Discovery Sports Events took over as FIM Speedway global promoter.

Monster Energy has extended this partnership for a further three seasons and will play an even bigger role in the year speedway celebrates its 100th anniversary as the Monster Energy FIM SWC returns to the track in Polish city Wroclaw after a six-year absence from July 25-29.

The brand with the iconic green claw served as Monster Energy FIM SWC title sponsor from 2012 until 2017 – the year the competition was last staged. It returns with nine countries – Poland, Australia, Great Britain, Sweden, Denmark, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany and France – racing over four epic nights to become FIM Speedway world team champions.

Monster Energy has firmly established itself as a huge part of every FIM Speedway event, entertaining fans and keeping them refreshed in the fanzones, as well as building the atmosphere ahead of Speedway GP events with their famous Monster Energy Rig Riots.

They also sponsor some of the sport’s biggest stars, including Britain’s triple world champion Tai Woffinden, Sweden’s world No.4 Fredrik Lindgren, Poland’s former world No.2 Patryk Dudek, British champion Dan Bewley and Australian champion Jack Holder. These Monster Energy athletes compete in the Speedway GP series, featuring 15 riders racing over 10 rounds across eight different countries to become Speedway GP world champion.

Laura Manciet, FIM Speedway championships director, is delighted to continue working with a brand which truly has speedway at heart.

She said: “Monster Energy has a long history of supporting FIM Speedway and some of the best riders in the world, and it’s a real pleasure to continue our partnership for a further three years.

“Their ability to engage with and entertain our fans makes Monster Energy an integral part of an FIM Speedway weekend, and when you speak to the team, led by Joe Parsons, it’s clear they are true speedway supporters.

“With the Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup returning for 2023 and speedway celebrating 100 years of racing, we are in for an exciting season. It’s great that Monster Energy will continue to be right at the heart of the action.”

Joe Parsons, Monster Energy Europe Director of Special Projects, commented: "We are very pleased to be continuing our relationship as the Official Energy Drink of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix. SGP and Monster Energy are two brands that share a passion for performance and innovation, while both supporting world-class athletes."
