Winter is coming and fans are braced for new champions to claim their World Cup thrones with every moment of the season shown on discovery+* and Eurosport as winter sports take over.

The action begins in earnest with the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup from Soelden, Austria on 28 October and sparks the start of 600 live races and figure skating events comprising 1,100 hours across the season. Uninterrupted coverage will be available to viewers across Europe and Asia (**excluding the Nordics and Japan) on discovery+ and the Eurosport App, with comprehensive television coverage on Eurosport’s channels, including a +35% increase in live linear hours compared to last year, deepening its winter sports heritage in its 35th year of coverage.

With 103 World Cup wins and nine overall titles between, Warner Bros. Discovery’s (WBD) star-studded winter sports expert line-up features French favourite Johan Clarey who joins the team for the first time for the 2023-2024 season. After becoming the oldest ever Olympic alpine skiing medallist at last year’s Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, Clarey will provide punditry and analysis during selected races and features as part of WBD’s team alongside fellow World Cup icons throughout the season:

  • Dave Ryding (Eurosport UK and International) - British alpine skier and Winter Olympian

Eurosport’s winter sports expertise and storytelling will see into go even deeper this season with the rising stars and newcomers on the snow circuit set to be profiled alongside the established athletes to increase awareness of the competing athletes. In addition, more behind-the-scenes content than ever before will form Eurosport’s winter sports wonderland, with its programming, editorial and digital offering set to feature exclusive insights from different areas and stakeholders within the industry, landing a 360° experience for fans.

Scott Young, SVP Content and Production at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, said: “Our coverage of last year’s Winter Olympics broke new audience engagement records demonstrating the appetite for winter sports is stronger than ever.

“By combining our huge portfolio of World Cup rights across the widest range of disciplines with our winter sports expertise, passion for storytelling and commitment to content creation, this season is sure to captivate millions of fans across Europe and Asia and inspire the next generation of winter sports stars.”

Taking ski jumping coverage even further, Eurosport Poland will serve fans with additional live and local language interviews from venues alongside in-depth technical analysis. Eurosport France viewers can enjoy episodes of Chalet Club each weekend for a debrief and highlights of all the major events, athlete interviews, plus expert insights and debates with host Géraldine Weber around the hottest topics in winter sports.

For the 2023-2024 season, WBD Sports has produced a new marketing campaign titled 'Winter Sports Take Over' which highlights the sheer volume of exhilarating action throughout the season on Eurosport and discovery+. The campaign launches on 8 November ahead of the weekend’s Alpine Speed Opening in the shadow of the Matterhorn – the first ever FIS World Cup race to cross a national border.
