VONN SERIES RETURNS TO HEADLINE EUROSPORT'S WINTER SPORTS COVERAGE

1 November 2018 - Last updated 7 May 2020

Lindsey Vonn

Winter sports fans across Europe will be given an access-all-areas pass to the final season of Lindsey Vonn’s professional career when Chasing History returns to Eurosport screens this winter.

Fans will be able to follow the iconic winter sports star’s every move, both on and off the piste, as Vonn chases the four wins that will see her become the most decorated alpine skier in World Cup history.

Following the success of the first season of Chasing History, which captured the fluctuating emotions of a career-threatening arm injury, the emotionally-charged celebrations when she clinched her 77th World Cup win and a bronze medal at her final Olympics – Eurosport will once again offer an exclusive insight into the final chapter of Vonn’s illustrious career.

The series premiere will coincide with the first downhill race of the season at Lake Louise in the last week of November. Every episode of Chasing History will be available to watch on Eurosport and Eurosport Player while more exclusive behind-the-scenes content will be available to view via the dedicated series website: chasinghistory.eurosport.com.

The three-time Olympic medalist said: “Throughout my entire career I’ve had incredible support from fans across Europe and the positive feedback I received for the first season of Chasing History was amazing.

“It is a strange feeling to be preparing for my final season as a professional skier but I’m grateful to be able to share my inner thoughts and feelings with Eurosport viewers. Eurosport has followed my World Cup career from day one and hopefully Chasing History will have the fairytale ending we all want.”

Emir Osmanbegovic, SVP Sports Content & Production at Eurosport, said:Eurosport prides itself in being a leader in real-life entertainment and is always looking to deliver to its fans the most captivating and extraordinary stories in sport.

“Lindsey Vonn is one of the most accomplished athletes of all time, and to be able to follow her live and behind-the-scenes - chasing this historic milestone in her last year on the circuit - will leave fans on the edge of their seats throughout the season.”

Chasing History will complement Eurosport’s record coverage of the winter sport season, which will see every World Cup and World Championship across all major winter sports available for fans to watch live or on-demand across Eurosport linear and digital platforms.

Eurosport will screen over 1,000 hours of coverage spanning over 170 World Cup events during the 2018-19 season in Europe and Asia-Pacific region* - including the Four Hills ski jumping tournament at the turn of the year and the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2019 in Are, Sweden in February. Eurosport’s in-depth coverage underlines its commitment to showcasing premium content and strengthens the network’s position as the Home of Winter Sports in Europe.

Throughout the 2018/19 season, Eurosport will offer fans analysis from the most knowledgeable experts and local heroes - including Olympic champion Jean-Pierre Vidal in France as well as two-time Olympic champion and 2013 World Cup overall champion Tina Maze in Italy.

Emir Osmanbegovic added: "Following Eurosport’s record-breaking Olympic Games in PyeongChang, there is  little doubt that Eurosport is the premier destination for winter sports. Eurosport will screen more coverage than ever before while legends of winter sports will share their passion and expertise.”

ENDS.
