11 September 2024 - Last updated 16 September 2024

Ticket sales are now on general sale for rounds 2 and 3 of the 2024 UCI Track Champions League at the Omnisport Apeldoorn on November 29-30

Apeldoorn, Netherlands makes its UCI Track Champions League debut with a double-header at the Omnisport Apeldoorn sponsored by BetCity. While the venue is a newcomer to this competition, it has been a regular host of top international events such as the 2011 and 2018 UCI Track World Championships, and the 2024 UEC European Track Championships earlier this year.

The velodrome is also the home of one of the UCI Track Champions League’s biggest stars, Harrie Lavreysen, who strengthened his legendary status by winning three gold medals at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. Following a fantastic summer, the UCI Track Champions League’s reigning overall Men’s Sprint Champion will be looking to reclaim his title with victories on home soil.

Double UCI Track Champions League Men’s Sprint Champion, Harrie Lavreysen (Netherlands) said: "Ever since the UCI Track Champions League started four years ago, it's been a dream of mine to compete in front of my home crowd, and I'm thrilled that this dream is finally coming true. After an amazing summer in Paris, I'm looking forward to racing again with the support of home fans, hoping to inspire more young people in the Netherlands to take up track cycling."

In addition to Lavreysen, Dutch Olympic medallists Jeffrey Hoogland and Hetty van de Wouw are among the 41 athletes who have officially qualified for the 2024 series.

Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallist in the Women’s Keirin, Hetty van de Wouw (Netherlands) said: "I'm thrilled to be returning to the UCI Track Champions League off the back of a great summer in Paris, and having a home track on the calendar is an added bonus. I know how passionate Dutch fans are about track cycling, and I can't wait to experience their incredible support."

Jeffrey Hoogland, Paris 2024 Olympic Champion in the Men’s Team Sprint, alongside Harrie Lavreysen (Netherlands) said: "I’m so excited to be back in the UCI Track Champions League, and I’m especially happy to see the addition of two rounds in the Netherlands. Competing in front of my home crowd will be amazing, and I’m sure their energy will give me that extra boost of motivation on race day."

Given the Netherlands' strong cycling tradition and passion, this event holds special significance on the UCI Track Champions League calendar.

The venue was designed by Sander Douma and has a capacity for over 5,000 spectators. The track sits at seven metres wide and 250 metres long. Made of Accoya Hout, and with a banking of 44° at its highest, it will be a great addition to the venue line-up.

Season four of the UCI Track Champions League kicks off on November 23 at the Vélodrome National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines (Paris, France), which crowned the Paris 2024 Olympic Champions a few weeks ago. The league will then move to Apeldoorn on November 29-30, before concluding at Lee Valley Park in London (Great-Britain) on December 6-7.
