THE COMMISSIONER RETURNS: CANTONA BACK TO PRESIDE OVER BLOCKBUSTER SUMMER OF FOOTBALL
An exciting summer of football just got even better as Eurosport confirms the return of Eric Cantona as the self-appointed Commissioner of Football for seven exclusive new episodes.
Starting tomorrow, Cantona, the enigmatic former France international and Manchester United legend, will reprise his role as ‘The Commissioner of Football’, giving his unique take on the all the major talking points as the world’s best international teams go toe-to-toe this summer.
Direct from his secret underground bunker, accompanied by his favourite football, ‘Ooh Ahh’, and white-coated sidekick, Igor, The Commissioner will be spying on all the action this summer and promises to provide more viral moments in seven brand new episodes during June and July. Each edition will premiere on Eurosport’s digital channels – eurosport.com and its integrated app – and be broadcast across Europe on Eurosport 1.
Cantona has been synonymous with Eurosport since assuming the role as the self-appointed Commissioner of Football during the European Championships in France two years ago. His hilarious sketches, where he is given free reign to rant on everything and everyone involved in football - from Messi to Mourinho and Ronaldo to Zlatan - have captivated millions of fans across the world.
Fans of Cantona can also catch up on his exclusive Eurosport documentary series exploring the relationship between soccer and society, The King’s Road. The three-part series takes fans on a journey of a football lifetime in three nations preparing for this summer’s FIFA World Cup; Iceland, Senegal and Peru.
