Madrid, June 16, 2020: Sports fans in Spain will be able to experience the excitement of live football on screen as Eurosport announces it will show the best matches from Portugal’s 'Liga NOS' after securing broadcast rights until the end of the season.
From Tuesday 16 June, Eurosport 2 in Spain will offer fans two live games from each of the eight remaining matchdays of the 2019/2020 season in which the Portuguese champions will be decided. The first two fixtures shown include C.D. Aves v FC Porto on Tuesday 16 June from 22:15 and Rio Ave v Benfica on Wednesday 17 June from 22:15*.
Since 2003, the Liga NOS or Primeira Liga has been dominated by two teams – FC Porto and Benfica – with the Lisbon-based side currently trailing their great rivals FC Porto by two points at the top of the table. The relegation battle will also be covered with Paços de Ferreira (25 points), Portimonense S.C. (20 points) and C.D Aves (13 points) all fighting for survival with the latter meeting on the final day of competition in what is set to be a nail-biting end to the season.
The deal follows Eurosport’s acquisition of the broadcasting rights for up to ten matches from the Norwegian Eliteserien via exclusive coverage through its platforms from Tuesday 16 June. In a clear commitment to offer viewers the best live international sporting coverage, fans in Spain can enjoy a total of 26 live matches covering Eliteserien and Liga NOS fixtures on Eurosport platforms until the end of the season.
