Live from the heart of the Olympic Winter Games

Eurosport Germany will focus its Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 coverage on the key moments that matters to the national audience.

Viewers and fans will always be ‘live’ in the action, with Eurosport covering every German athlete vying for a medal. Before, during and even after competition, German athletes will be the focus.

The Olympics will be presented on Eurosport by the very best reporters, live and on-the-ground in PyeongChang.  New broadcasting directors and top-class sports experts including as Birgit Nössing, Jan Henkel, Sven Hannawald, Martin Schmitt, Frank Wörndl and Jochen Behle form Eurosport’s dream on-screen team.

Three-time gold medal winning speed skater Anni Friesinger-Postma and Rio 2016 Olympic champion gymnast star Fabian Hambüchen are new additions to the Eurosport team in Germany. Anni will provide analysis for the speed skating competitions in Pyeongchang while Fabian will offer insights into what it takes to become an Olympic champion and provide analysis for Eurosport throughout the Games.

Anni Friesinger-Postma said she is looking forward to PyeongChang: "The Olympics are still the biggest sports highlight for us, and I am very pleased that I am able to present and analyse my sport at Eurosport as a TV expert. I have experienced so many unique Olympic moments as an athlete. I can now follow the current athletes’ journey when they write their own piece of Olympic history."

Fabian Hambüchen added: "I am thrilled to be part of the Eurosport family as it becomes the new Home of the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang 2018. We have a great team at Eurosport with many experts. Apart from all this sporting expertise, we will try to convey the mystique of the Games and the Olympic spirit. I want to transfer the passion from the stands at the Games to the viewers watching on Eurosport.

More stars sign up for Eurosport’s Bundesliga coverage

With Marco Hagemann and Matthias Stach joining the commentary team for Bundesliga, Eurosport now boasts two of the most renowned sports reporters in its ranks. They join a star-studded line up of Eurosport’s Bundesliga coverage that already includes Matthias Sammer, the German footballing icon.

Marco Hagemann, who made his presenting debut last year when he joined Eurosport to host Kicker.tv, is a football specialist with years of experience as a commentator on the Bundesliga. At Eurosport, the 40-year-old Westphalian will call some of the best games from across the world including the FA Cup and national U21 national games.

Matthias Stach has worked in sports journalism for nearly 30 years and has already commentated on Bundesliga matches and international games for some of Germany’s most popular TV stations. At Grand Slam tennis tournaments, Matthias is both main commentator and presenter alongside the legendary Boris Becker.

In February 2017, both Marco Hagemann and Matthias Stach won the prestigious Best Sports Programme category at the Deutsche Fernsehpreis for their work with Eurosport during the Australian Open in January last year.

Christian Ortlepp has also joined the Eurosport team. The Bundesliga expert, with an excellent network of contacts, will not only provide insights for viewers but also develop new content for Eurosport audiences.  The 44-year-old has been a reporter in various roles since entering the world of journalism in 1993 – including Radio Gong 96.3, Premiere, tm3 and, most recently, at Sport1.

In January, Eurosport announced that Matthias Sammer and Jan Henkel will join the broadcaster. Sammer was one of the most decorated football players of his generation and will call on his experience as a player, coach and sports administrator to give Eurosport viewers a unique insight into the game.

Together with Sammer, Jan Henkel will be part of Eurosport Germany’s team that will present the Bundesliga. A journalist for over 15 years, Jan Henkel has been at home in the Bundesliga for over 15 years and is a well-known voice among German football fans.
