Generations will collide when the first Grand Slam of the year hits Warner Bros. Discovery Sports screens in January live and exclusively across Europe***.

From Carlos Alcaraz to Novak Djokovic, Iga Swiatek to Caroline Garcia and Rafael Nadal to Casper Ruud, 2023 is set to be a season where new stories are written and old rivalries are renewed – starting with the Australian Open (16-29 January) on discovery+*, Eurosport and Eurosport App.

Scott Young, SVP Content and Production at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, said: “Last year provided so many talking points for tennis fans across the globe and Eurosport was there every step of the way – helping to set the news agenda with world-class analysis and thought-provoking expert opinion from some of the finest minds in the game. 2023 promises much of the same as the new generation of superstars continue to make their name while icons such as Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal seek to build on their legacy. To have one of the best storytelling tools - the award-winning Cube studio - bringing these elements will elevate our coverage further.

“With a raft of compelling content in addition to making every match available via our suite of platforms, we truly believe Warner Bros. Discovery continues to tell the most inspiring stories with the greatest storytellers to unlock the power of sport.”

AWARD-WINNING CUBE STUDIO RETURNS
Coverage from Melbourne will be based out of Warner Bros. Discovery’s mixed-reality Cube studio with a host of respected experts offering their thoughts from all over the world all the way through the tournament. Ensuring fans are brought closer to their favourite stars, the world’s best players will be teleported from thousands of miles away during the Australian Open to speak to them directly via Eurosport’s hosts and experts based in London.

THE VERY BEST EXPERTS, ALL OVER THE WORLD
Alize Lim, seven-time Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander and six-time Grand Slam semi-finalist Tim Henman will front coverage from the Cube while former world number seven Barbara Schett and ex-British star Laura Robson will be on-site speaking to the key players making the headlines in Melbourne. Seven-time Grand Slam champion, John McEnroe, will join Warner Bros. Discovery’s coverage from New York to give his unfiltered take on proceedings.

Alex Corretja (Spain), Justine Henin (France), Boris Becker (Germany) and Roberta Vinci (Italy) will not only be key components of Eurosport’s localised coverage, but each will also contribute their views and analysis to an international audience at key moments through live coverage of the tournament.

EXCLUSIVE QUALIFYING PROGRAMMING AND CONTENT TO WHET THE APPETITE
In addition to the 250 hours of live coverage from the main draw ensuring fans won’t miss a ball being hit, Warner Bros. Discovery in Europe will also present all courts produced during the qualifying rounds starting from 10 January on discovery+*, Eurosport and Eurosport App.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s build-up programming begins at the turn of the year with the Adelaide International 1 ATP 250 tournament broadcast in selected markets** from 2 January and the Adelaide International 2 event screened live across Europe from 9 January.

Additional content exclusive to Warner Bros. Discovery will see world number three Casper Ruud speak in-depth to Eurosport’s experts for Ruud Talk, looking back on a memorable season, previewing the upcoming year ahead and giving his insights into this year’s Australian Open. New recruit Laura Robson will also explore the city of her birth – but one in which she knows little about – in The Melbournian, an eight-episode short-form series to be broadcast during Warner Bros. Discovery’s coverage of the tournament.

Complementing the live, on-court action will be extensive coverage of the Australian Open on Eurosport’s digital and social platforms – including highlights, reaction and analysis - enabling fans to be kept across all of the major moments that matter right throughout the event that Warner Bros. Discovery first broadcast in 1995.

Warner Bros. Discovery will also harness the breadth of its free-to-air networks, ensuring the widest possible audiences are reached during one of the headline events on the sporting calendar. 6’Eren – (Denmark) - local players and singles finals, MAX (Norway) – matches featuring Casper Ruud, K9 (Sweden) – singles matches, TV5 (Finland) – men’s and women’s singles finals; and TVN (Poland) – the women’s singles final should it feature Iga Swiatek, will broadcast a host of matches over the course of the Australian Open.

NEW CAMPAIGN TO CELEBRATE RETURN OF TENNIS
Underpinning Warner Bros. Discovery’s coverage of the Australian Open will be a launch promo narrated by the legendary John McEnroe. A Love Letter pays tribute to the game and its players serving as a reminder about how tough but beautiful the sport is at the highest level. The 30-second promo goes live from 2 January across all Warner Bros. Discovery platforms.

A love letter, narrated by John McEnroe
Tennis is beautiful, it’s a dance and a gladiator fight
On the court there’s nowhere to hide, no draws, no substitutions
You need personality, power and finesse, it’s maddening, but exhilarating
And this season, all bets are off! The game we love is back, at the Australian Open
With every match live and on-demand on discovery+ and Eurosport

*Streaming is available on discovery+ in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the UK and Ireland.
** Adelaide International 1 ATP 250 tournament, from 2-8 January, available to watch in Belgium, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Hungary, Iceland, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden
*** Except Austria and Switzerland where sub-licence agreements are in place for 2023
