- Eurosport to offer Olympic Games advertisers dedicated sponsorship opportunities for Twitter content.
London, October 15, 2019: Discovery and Eurosport, the Home of the Olympics across Europe, have today announced a broad content publishing and ad sales partnership with Twitter for the forthcoming Olympic Games Tokyo 2020[1]. The collaboration for Tokyo 2020 will see Twitter amplify Eurosport’s digital coverage of the Games in 16 European markets[2].
The partnership will bring Twitter users world-class content, including the very best moments of Eurosport’s countdown Road to Tokyo coverage, extensive event highlight clips featuring medal-winning moments and the most exciting and locally-relevant moments during the Olympic Games, as well as live coverage of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies[3].
Discovery and Eurosport will also offer the International Olympic Committee TOP partners dedicated content marketing solutions to further promote their global brands alongside the Olympic Games in Europe. Twitter will also offer advertisers another avenue to connect to Eurosport’s coverage of the Games. All content will be supported by official Eurosport Twitter handles, sold as Twitter in-stream sponsorships by the Discovery, Eurosport and Twitter sales teams.
The content partnership allows Eurosport to connect Twitter’s highly engaged audiences across key European markets with the world’s greatest athletes - including their local medal hopes and heroes - the host City and the Games’ most iconic moments. Through its Twitter channels, Eurosport will reach new audiences with its comprehensive digital coverage of Tokyo 2020 and connect them to Eurosport.com and the Eurosport app, which is the only place viewers throughout Europe can experience every minute of the Games with 3,500 hours and all 321-Gold medal-winning moments live in 4k ultra-high definition.
Paul Rehrig, General Manager, Eurosport Digital, said: “We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Twitter in a collaboration that will bring Eurosport’s award-winning Olympic Games coverage to even more people across the continent. Twitter is the premier platform for live content and conversation and the perfect place to extend the reach of Eurosport’s coverage of Tokyo 2020.”
“People come to Twitter to discover and talk about what's happening and The Olympics will be the biggest moment in sports in 2020. We’re excited that Eurosport will bring real time highlights and live coverage of the Opening and Closing ceremonies to fans across Europe, fuelling the robust Olympics conversation that will be happening on Twitter,” said Kay Madati, Global Vice President and Head of Content Partnerships at Twitter.
Mike Rich, Head of Sports Marketing Solutions at Discovery said: “This partnership provides a huge opportunity for brands to connect with the world’s biggest sporting event and Twitter’s huge and hyper-engaged audience at a time when the eyes of the world will be on Tokyo 2020. This collaboration is another example of how Discovery and Eurosport are the only partners who can deliver brands deep engagement with millions of passionate sports fans across Europe around the Olympics. Tokyo 2020 offers an unparalleled opportunity as the first Summer Olympics where a brand can work with one partner to engage consumers across Europe.”
Following the success of its award-winning first Olympic Games production for PyeongChang 2018, where Discovery delivered on its commitment to engage more people, on more screens than ever before across Europe, the global leader in real life entertainment will power people’s passions for the Olympics like never before at Tokyo 2020 with the most comprehensive digital coverage of a Summer edition of the Olympic Games.
Eurosport will be the only destination that fans can watch every minute of every sport, featuring every athlete, live and on-demand and engaging with fans across all screens - TV, mobile, social, web, connected TVs through Eurosport.com and the Eurosport App.
