Coverage of the World Urban Games on Eurosport and Eurosport Player ensures that live action from the BMX freestyle, 3x3 basketball and breaking finals will be screened in over 50 countries and territories across Europe in 21 languages.

As announced last week, a deal has also been agreed with the Olympic Channel to stream live action of the Games throughout the event.

The World Urban Games, powered by GAISF, will take place from 13-15 September 2019 and feature six competition and two showcase sports.

Launched with the full support of the International Olympic Committee, the role of the Games is to create a multi-sport platform for International Federations and new disciplines on a global stage.
The Games will take place on the site of the Nagyvásártelep, an abandoned market hall in the south of Budapest. The site has an authentically urban feel and provides the perfect backdrop for a three-day festival of urban culture.

As well as incorporating competition and showcase sports, the Games will feature demonstration events, providing opportunities for spectators of all ages and abilities to try a number of exciting urban sports. The Festival programme also includes live music, street art and dance, with the aim of inspiring a new generation of urban athletes around the world.

Following the broadcast announcement, GAISF President Raffaele Chiulli said: “Our agreement with Eurosport underlines the importance of urban sport and the global interest towards the first edition of the World Urban Games.

“We are constantly looking at new ways to promote our international sport federations and to develop new sport disciplines, and the latest broadcasting deal will provide a fantastic opportunity for the participating sports to reach a new audience throughout Europe.”

Local Organising Committee Chairman Balázs Fürjes said: “As we get closer to the Games, the level of global interest is clear. It is a wonderful opportunity for this city to host another major event in 2019 and I believe that Eurosport will ensure that the first World Urban Games is a major success throughout Europe.”
