EUROSPORT TO BROADCAST SNOOKERS'S SCOTTISH OPEN IN ULTRA HD FOR THE FIRST TIME
Eurosport’s coverage of snooker’s Home Nations series will reach new heights in December when the BetVictor Scottish Open is televised in Ultra High Definition for the first time.
The tournament in Glasgow, which runs from December 10 to 16, will be on the Eurosport 4K channel and available in France (via Canal) and Russia (via Tricolor TV and MTS). The final, on the 16th of December, will also be made available in Germany (via HD+).
The channel was launched earlier this year, with Eurosport’s Ultra HD coverage shown for the first time at Roland Garros tennis in May.
Laurent Prud’homme - Senior Vice President Rights Acquisitions and Syndication, Affiliates co-ordination & IOC and Media Services, said: “Eurosport has always been on cutting edge when it comes to innovation. We’re extremely excited to be able to show the Scottish Open in Ultra High Definition in selected markets and we’re proud to bring the drama of the event with an enhanced experience to our loyal snooker fans.
“Following Roland Garros and The Championships at Wimbledon earlier this year, this coverage will show once again how Eurosport 4K provides our viewers with a more immersive and spectacular experience. We are delighted to make this happen with the support of World Snooker.”
World Snooker’s Commercial Director Miles Pearce added: “The opportunity to watch the Scottish Open in Ultra HD will add a fantastic extra element to the viewing experience for fans. We’re delighted to work with our partners Eurosport as they continue to push the boundaries in their coverage of World Snooker events.”
Viewers without 4k television will still be able to watch the tournament on the usual Eurosport channels.
The BetVictor Scottish Open will feature 128 players at the Glasgow Emirates battling for the trophy in the third Home Nations event of the season. Neil Robertson is defending the title against top stars such as Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy, Mark Allen, Ding Junhui and home favourite John Higgins.
