EUROSPORT LAUNCHES UNIQUE WAKE-UP CALL SERVICE FOR THE US OPEN
Europe’s top tennis players to make wake-up calls to viewers to help tennis fans beat the time difference with New York.
As part of its marketing campaign to promote its coverage of the US Open, Eurosport, the home of Grand Slam tennis in Europe, is helping sleepy fans across Europe wake-up in time to see all the action from the US Open. Fans can choose a concierge style wake-up call from a number of players including Andy Murray, Gabine Muguruza, Angelique Kerber and Simona Halep to get them out of bed and switch on to Eurosport to watch their games.
Fans in France, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland and Romania can sign up to the unique service. This is the link to access the UK version: http://wakeupcall.eurosport.com/en
Five minutes before play, registrants will receive a phone call from their tennis hero.
Antonio Ruiz, VP Marketing and Franchise Management, said: “Eurosport’s coverage of the US Open brings all the action and electric atmosphere from the city that never sleeps to European sports fans. Many matches are played late into the night in Europe and it’s difficult for tennis fans to keep up-to-date on the order of play. So we thought the best way to ensure tennis lovers don’t miss out, is to receive a five-minute warning call, and who better to make that call than the players themselves.”
Eurosport’s widespread coverage of the tournament shows every point from the first to the last ball, LIVE across Eurosport’s platforms: Eurosport 1, Eurosport 2 and Eurosport Player - the live and on-demand digital service available anytime and on any device with easy access to up to 12 courts.
This will be complemented by analysis and expert opinion from on-air talent on bespoke shows. Former seven-time Grand Slam winner, Mats Wilander, hosts “Game, Set and Mats”; Serena Williams’ coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, stars in the “The Coach”; and former world number 2 tennis player Alex Corretja will interview the players from across the grounds. A daily morning show of 30 mins named “Wake-up Call” will also debut to bring the best moments from the day’s play.
