EUROSPORT COMPLETES STUNNING MOVE FOR WORLD CUP WINNER
Eurosport has announced the signing of the summer so far with Hope Solo joining as the Commissioner of Women’s Football.
With a huge summer for women’s football fast approaching, Solo - who won the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015 with the USA as well as back-to-back Golden Gloves as best goalkeeper – is also set to link up with Eurosport in her role as Commissioner for its unrivalled UEFA Euro 2017 coverage this July.
The outspoken sporting icon, famed for voicing her opinions on all things football, will give fans across Europe a unique take on the moments and issues facing the game in her role as Commissioner of Women’s Football.
Hope Solo, the 202-capped international star, said: “I’m excited to be joining Eurosport ahead of what is a brilliant summer for women’s football in Europe. I’m here to shake things up, I will take no prisoners and I can guarantee fans an honest opinion.”
With a professional career spanning nearly twenty years, two Olympic Gold Medals, and every record in U.S. goalkeeping history, Solo’s experience makes her one of the best minds in the women’s game.
“As a goalkeeper, my job is to call plays, organise the defense and read the opposing team’s offense. This mindset will serve me well as Commissioner and I look forward to giving fans my own thoughts. It should be a great summer.”
Solo joins Eric Cantona as a Commissioner of Football, the legendary Frenchman’s episodes proving a winner with fans across Europe since he first appeared on Eurosport screens last summer. The first Commissioner of Women’s Football episode, featuring Hope Solo, will air during Eurosport’s coverage of the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final on Thursday 1 June.
Eurosport will show all 31 matches from UEFA Euro 2017 across Europe, starting on 16 July with the Netherlands playing Norway in Utrecht.
