DISCOVERY / EUROSPORT REPORT RECORD VIEWING NUMBERS FOR ROLAND-GARROS LADIES FINAL IN POLAND
Eurosport today reports record audience numbers for Roland-Garros in Poland, with Saturday’s ladies final between Iga Swiatek and Sofia Kenin watched by 2.52 million people across Eurosport and Discovery-owned TVN. The figure represents 27% market share for the country.
The men’s final between Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic was the most watched men's Grand Slam final ever, an 80% increase on the previous record from 2014.
Andrew Georgiou as President, Eurosport and Global Sports Rights & Sports Marketing Solutions, said: “These numbers highlight the unique ability of Eurosport to leverage the sheer scale of the Discovery network family in a prominent market such as Poland.
“This is a huge success for both the rights-holder and fans alike and while we understand the current challenges of allowing fans into stadia for tournament organising committees, I am proud of the way we continue to tell the tale of key athletes, such as Iga, our linear and digital platforms to help bring her story to life.”
Iga Swiatek became the first Polish player – male or female – to win a singles title at a Grand Slam event on Saturday when she defeated American Sofia Kenin 6-4, 6-1.
