CORRETJA JOINS EUROSPORT’S GRAND SLAM TENNIS TEAM
Former tennis ace Àlex Corretja has joined Eurosport’s team of international pundits ahead of the broadcaster’s unmissable coverage of this year’s Grand Slam tournaments.
In his playing career, the Spaniard reached two Grand Slam finals and a world ranking of No.2. Since retirement he has enjoyed spells as coach to current world No.2, Andy Murray, and as captain of Spain’s Davis Cup team. He will use that experience to offer unique insight into the explosive action at this year’s top tennis events, starting with Eurosport’s exclusive Australian Open coverage across 54 European countries.
“I am honoured to become a part of the Eurosport on-air talent family and have the chance to spread my tennis knowledge to fans across Europe. As any former player, I associate Eurosport to tennis and it’s exciting to partner with a broadcaster with such great heritage in the sport,” Corretja said.
“The start of every season is really exciting and it is always interesting to see how the big players deal with the worries associated with returning from the off-season; I’m looking forward to speaking to them court-side.”
Eurosport’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Hutton, added: “Àlex has world-class credentials as a player, coach and national team captain, so he is a natural fit to join our team of tennis experts for an enthralling year ahead for the sport.

Corretja will be a valuable addition to Eurosport’s team of tennis experts, joining seven-time Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander and ex-top 10 player Barbara Schett on the daily show, ‘Game, Set and Mats.’ Serena Williams’ coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, will also return with ‘The Coach’ – a show that uses augmented reality to give viewers in-depth analysis into players’ tactics and techniques.
Eurosport will broadcast 250 hours of live action from the Australian Open and a total of 460 hours of television coverage from Melbourne. Eurosport Player, the live and on demand online service, will provide 1,000 hours of coverage thanks to its simultaneous coverage of up to 16 courts.
