ALL TEN SPEEDWAY GP ROUNDS LIVE ON DISCOVERY+ & 6’EREN IN DENMARK

25 April 2023 - Last updated 27 April 2023

All ten rounds of the 2023 FIM Speedway Grand Prix series will be broadcast live on discovery+ and Warner Bros. Discovery-owned channel 6’eren in Denmark.

Viewers in Denmark can follow the fortunes of world No.2 Leon Madsen, double European champion Mikkel Michelsen and two-time Danish champion Anders Thomsen throughout 2023 with full coverage on discovery+, starting with the season-opening Tehnix FIM Speedway GP of Croatia on April 29.

discovery+ will feature all the build-up from the pits and reaction after the chequered flag falls, plus the very best coverage of the racing including pit and on-board cameras, rider reaction times and, coming soon, live speed data.

Viewers of discovery+ can also catch brand-new reality series Team Pedersen, featuring Denmark’s three-time world champion Nicki Pedersen, who makes his return to the world stage as Danish rider/manager at the Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup, speedway’s world team championship, in Wroclaw from July 25-29.

To bring the Speedway GP action to an even wider audience in 2023, 6’eren will now broadcast all 10 Speedway GP rounds – ensuring they will be available to the vast majority of Danish television viewers. The Monster Energy SWC Race Off and Final will also be live on Eurosport 1 as the Danes bid to lift the famous Ove Fundin trophy for the fifth time.

Laura Manciet, FIM Speedway championships director, commented: “We are determined to reach as many speedway fans as possible in 2023, so broadcasting all 10 Speedway GP rounds on 6’eren is great news for everyone.

“There is real excitement surrounding Danish speedway at the moment. Leon Madsen finished second in the 2022 Speedway GP World Championship; Anders Thomsen won his first Speedway GP in Gorzow, and Mikkel Michelsen will be keen to build on reaching his first two Speedway GP finals last year.

“On top of that, Nicki Pedersen will be taking charge of the national team, and I am sure he will be following his riders’ fortunes in the Speedway GP series very closely as the Monster Energy SWC returns to the calendar for the first time since 2017.

“As speedway celebrates its 100th anniversary year, Danish fans have plenty to be excited about as the current generation of Speedway GP riders bid to join Ole Olsen, Hans Nielsen, Erik Gundersen, Nicki Pedersen and Jan O Pedersen in the elite club of Danish world champions.”

Danish viewers can also watch highlights of all 10 Speedway GPs on 6’eren, with a 45-minute highlights show broadcast on Eurosport 1 after every round.

Eurosport Denmark will also televise the FIM SGP2 of Denmark – Vojens on Friday, September 15 – the final round of this year’s FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship.

Søren Kaestrup, Head of Sports at Warner Bros. Discovery Denmark, commented: "Speedway has a large audience in Denmark and we look forward to delivering even more racing to them as we step up our coverage of Speedway GP in the coming season.

“All Speedway GP rounds are now also shown on 6’eren, just as you can still get the full experience on discovery+.

“At the same time, we will introduce a new local speedway magazine, which we look forward to debuting towards the start of the season. We will be following Leon Madsen, Anders Thomsen and Mikkel Michelsen closely - and I wonder if Nicki Pedersen will also appear with us during the season.”
