WARNER BROS. DISCOVERY AND YOUTUBE PEN NEW PARIS 2024 CONTENT CREATOR PARTNERSHIP

16 July 2024

  • Some of the most recognisable content creators will be embedded in the heart of Paris this summer to uncover exclusive new stories for Eurosport from its studios and in-stadium positions
  • Jakidale (Italy); Rick Azas (Germany); Underrated Hijabi (UK), Robbie Lyle (UK) and Meryem Can (Turkey) among other creators are teaming up with Eurosport to amplify the reach of its comprehensive live coverage
  • New content formats filmed in Paris will be presented across Eurosport’s YouTube channel to connect new audiences with exclusive content celebrating Paris 2024 and Olympic culture

Audiences will be immersed in the Olympic Games like never before this summer as a new collaboration between Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) and YouTube is set to bring Paris 2024 to a diverse set of fans, further expanding the reach of Eurosport’s live coverage.

The new content partnership will base a group of YouTube creators in the heart of the city to produce fresh and exciting new content, expanding the reach of the Olympics and its fandoms across Europe. Admired personalities will explore the sporting action and the colourful Olympic culture on display, boosted by the millions of international spectators descending on Paris for the world’s greatest sporting spectacle. They include Jakidale (Italy); Rick Azas (Germany); Underrated Hijabi (UK); Robbie Lyle (UK); Meryem Can (Turkey); Gabinouvilla (France); Agnieszka Grzelak Vlog (Poland); Paul Ferrer Z (Spain) and Karina & Marina (Spain).

Exclusive content will be captured from unique in-stadium positions, Paris’ iconic Olympic venues and at WBD House – WBD’s rooftop studio in the heart of the city where Eurosport will host its live shows. Alongside this, other short and long formats will include video diaries from around the city itself.

Fans will enjoy a 360-degree Olympics experience on YouTube as part of the collaboration. In addition to the creator content, fans will be able to watch live streams of the historic Opening and Closing Ceremonies on Eurosport’s YouTube channel, as well as extensive highlights and original Olympic features published in multiple languages each day throughout the Games.

Scott Young, Group SVP Content, Production and Business Operations at WBD Sports Europe, said: “Our ambition is to capture the energy emanating from our remarkable home city of Paris during the Olympics while taking new and existing fans even closer to the Games, the athletes and the stories that will be told.

“Partnering with YouTube and its network of much-loved content creators presents a new opportunity to further expand our Olympic storytelling while enhancing our world-class live coverage in the process. We want everyone to be part of this historic sporting spectacle and we can’t wait to bring exciting new formats to viewers all across Europe which we know will engage new and old fans alike.”

Rob Pilgrim, Head of Sports at YouTube Europe, Middle East and Africa, said: “YouTube has long been a global home for sports content. It’s the place where sports fans not only come to catch up with major sporting events, but also the destination to watch and go deep on everything they love — from commentary to behind the scenes, to how to master a somersault or learn about the history of skateboarding. Through this partnership, Warner Bros. Discovery is catering for the needs of young sports fans by providing never seen before angles to the Games while at the same time building alternative ways to grow their business”.

Eurosport will broadcast live and localised coverage of the Olympic Games in 47 markets and 19 languages across Europe with WBD’s streaming platforms Max, HBO Max and discovery+ connecting fans with every moment including 3,800 live hours from 32 sports and 329 medal events. WBD has assembled an unrivalled line-up of nearly 100 former Olympians and athletes across its markets to better connect fans with the sports and athletes they love.

Eurosport’s live coverage begins during the first qualifying events on 24 July ahead of the Opening Ceremony on 26 July, with the final day of competition taking place on 11 August ahead of the Closing Ceremony.

**Max is available across France, the Nordics, Iberia, Central and Eastern Europe; HBO Max is WBD’s streaming platform in Belgium and the Netherlands; discovery+ is the streaming platform for Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.
